Tiffany N. Ford

Tiffany N. Ford is a nonresident fellow with the Center on Economic Security and Opportunity at the Brookings Institution. Ford is a Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health. Dr. Ford employs mixed methods approaches to explore how gendered racism manifests in the health, economic, and social lives of Black people in the United States. Her research and advocacy investigates subjective well-being; health, economic, and social inequality in U.S. systems and institutions; and qualitative methods to inform equitable public policy.

Ford earned her Ph.D. in Policy Studies with a concentration in social policy from the University of Maryland College Park School of Public Policy. She earned her Master of Public Health with a concentration in community health sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and completed her undergraduates training in human and social development and economics at the University of Miami.

Previously Ford worked as a senior policy analyst for health reform and health equity at a public health policy nonprofit in Chicago and as a health equity postdoctoral research associate in the Politics of Race, Immigration, Class and Ethnicity Research Initiative at Cornell University. Her transdisciplinary health equity work traverses the social and structural determinants of health, the determinants of subjective well-being, and policy interventions to support health and well-being in the U.S. at institutional, systems, local, and state levels.
