Hanna Love is a fellow at Brookings Metro’s Bass Center for Transformative Placemaking, where her research lies at the intersection between place, economic opportunity, and public safety. Love’s recent work has focused on scaling community-centered economic inclusion in urban and rural markets, advancing place-based approaches to community safety, and identifying solutions to the evolving challenges facing American downtowns. Her scholarship has received coverage and citations in outlets such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, Vox, Time, and numerous other national and regional outlets. Prior to Brookings, Love was a research analyst at the Urban Institute’s Justice Policy Center, specializing in youth justice and community-based solutions for safety. Love holds a master’s degree from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Pomona College, both in sociology.
