Victor L. Hymes is President & CEO of Legato Capital Management, LLC, an investment management firm that identifies, seeds, and develops entrepreneurial investment teams. Prior to founding Legato in 2004, he spent a decade as an institutional portfolio manager at Scudder, Stevens & Clark, Inc. Following Scudder’s reorganization as Zurich Scudder Investments, Inc., Victor headed Zurich’s $80 billion North American institutional business. His professional career began with a decade of work at Goldman Sachs Group and Kidder Peabody & Co.
Victor is an independent director of Principal Funds, Inc., where he is a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee. He is Board Treasurer of the National Audubon Society and serves on their Investment and Finance committees. At the Brookings Institution, Victor is Treasurer of the Board, Chair of the Budget & Finance Committee, and a member of the Investment and Compensation Committees. He is a former member of the boards of Oberlin College, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation, Earthjustice and NRDC.
Victor is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
