CHANGES TO REGISTRATIONS AND ABSENCES
You can transfer from a course or substitute another participant without penalty with appropriate notice. The chart below outlines fees for cancellations or changes made with less than 30 days notice.
Substitution requests must include the new participant’s information and be submitted at least two business days before a program.
If you are unable to attend a course, please notify the registrar. In limited circumstances, transfer fees may be waived. If you choose to cancel outright, tuition will be forfeited.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Participant substitutions are allowed without penalty for non-cohort programs up until two (2) business days prior to the program start date and are strongly encouraged in circumstances in which an original participant is unable to attend his or her scheduled course. However, we reserve the right to accept or reject a substitute for programs requiring minimum management levels.
TRANSFERS
A participant may elect to transfer out of a program and into another once, and only once. However, as shown above, if notification of a transfer is received after indicated deadlines, fees will be incurred, and the participant will be billed accordingly.
A transferee is responsible for any tuition difference between the program they originally registered for and the program they transfer to. Registration for the new course is not final until the the tuition difference has been paid. Tuition credits can be used within 12 months of a transfer request. After this time, tuition credits will be forfeited.
CANCELATIONS
Cancelations submitted after deadlines will be subject to the fees specified above and participants will be billed in accordance with these policies. Participants who do not notify us of a cancellation and fail to attend their course forfeit the full tuition.
ABSENCES
If you miss any portion of a course, WashU at Brookings cannot refund your tuition or offer complementary participation in a future iteration of the course. The policy also applies to cohort programs. Exceptions may be made in limited circumstances at the discretion of WashU at Brookings.
COHORT PROGRAMS
Participants in cohort programs are required to adhere to the standards set forth at the time of admission. No program substitutions or transfers will be granted for these cohort programs. If you miss any portion of a program because of weather, illness or other circumstance, we are unable to reimburse you for any part of the program tuition or offer complimentary participation in any subsequent iteration, or open-enrollment course. If you fail to attend some or all of your program, you will not be entitled to a certificate of completion.
COURSE CANCELLATIONS
If WashU at Brookings cancels a course for any reason, you are responsible for any travel costs you have incurred. In the event of a class cancellation, every effort will be made to notify you immediately and to find an appropriate course you can transfer into. You will not be charged transfer fees described in the cancellation policy section.
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
WashU at Brookings follows the federal government’s policies on inclement-weather closings. If the federal government closes because of bad weather, WashU at Brookings closes too. All scheduled events will be cancelled, and you will not be allowed in the building. If the federal government calls for a delayed opening or offers liberal leave, WashU at Brookings will open on time, and courses will proceed as scheduled.

All program communication and materials are managed through learn.WashU, Olin’s digital education platform which serves as a repository for materials.
PRIVACY POLICY
Washington University and the Brookings Institution value your private information and will not share personal data with third parties, except where required. By providing your information, you agree to allow future communication from these entities unless otherwise indicated in writing. You may opt out of these communications at any time.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We reserve the right to use photos taken during courses and/or programs for promotional purposes. Although photographs are only occasionally taken during these events, participants who do not wish to be photographed can inform staff prior to attendance.

Robert S. Brookings — founder of the Brookings Institution and longtime benefactor of Washington University in St. Louis — advanced public service as a force for good, a vehicle for positive change and an instrument for solving problems.
In 1916, the business leader and philanthropist helped establish the first private organization dedicated to the fact-based study of national public policy. One of his goals was to educate a select corps of public leaders for the tough work of government.
